Change a parcel collection time without duplicating the order

CMRL’s 19 December 2025 announcement names Thoraipakkam in its planned Metro entry, exit and commercial-space development. Write down what has changed

Use fictional takeaway order T6 for four meals at a training price of Rs.120 each, originally agreed for 12:30. At 12:10 the guest asks to collect at 13:00. The requested food remains four meals and its item subtotal remains Rs.480. Read back the revised time and date; do not create a second order just to carry the new time. This example uses a staff coordination record, not an assumed automatic scheduling feature.

Ask the kitchen before promising a delay

The cashier locates the saved T6 reference and asks the kitchen lead whether preparation has started. If it has not, the lead decides whether the revised plan can be accommodated and tells the person responsible for preparation. If food is already being prepared or packed, the lead agrees the next action with the guest through the restaurant’s own process. A time change on a screen does not reverse cooking. Follow your restaurant’s food-handling procedures; this exercise does not prescribe storage temperatures or holding times.

Keep the revision beside the original reference

Record T6, the original time, the agreed replacement time, the person who accepted it and the kitchen acknowledgement in your supported order notes or a clearly identified staff log. Demonstrate where that information can be read in your installation. If an old paper ticket remains at the pass, keep the revision connected to that ticket through the agreed handoff. Do not rely on a second identical KOT or an unlabelled message that could be mistaken for four more meals.

Separate a later food addition from the timing change

At 12:20, introduce a separate request for one extra meal. Confirm availability and guest agreement before using the supported order-update procedure. T6 now contains five meals, with a sample item subtotal of Rs.600. The food addition is one meal; the earlier time change added none. Ask the kitchen operator to explain both the current total and the new work, using the original reference and its updates. Taxes, discounts and other configured charges are outside this arithmetic example.

Check payment and collection independently

If Rs.480 was already paid before the extra meal, the sample difference is Rs.120. Demonstrate the approved way to record and check that difference; neither a changed total nor a Settle button proves payment was received. At collection, match T6, five meals and the agreed payment record. Confirm collection separately so a colleague does not hand the same reference to another person after the first guest leaves. Customer name or requested pickup time alone is not a reliable order identifier.

Hand the revised plan to the next colleague

Have a second cashier take over without a verbal explanation from the first. From the records, they should identify five meals, the agreed 13:00 collection, the kitchen’s preparation decision and any payment still to check. If they cannot, improve the handover before using it during service. Bring your actual collection routine, sample menu and printer details to the Thoraipakkam demo.
