Rehearse an advance takeaway order alongside walk-in service

Chennai Metro Rail’s Medavakkam Main Road notice, dated July 2023, identifies the Medavakkam flyover and the Velachery–Tambaram road connection. For a restaurant visit, send the actual entrance and map pin and confirm access with the local team rather than relying on an old diversion route.

Write the promise before entering the order

Use an invented practice order, reference A: four meal parcels requested at 11:00 for collection at 13:00. Write both times explicitly, with the date. Choose quantities and preparation arrangements your kitchen agrees are realistic; these times are an exercise, not a recommended service commitment. Ask who accepts the order and who confirms that the kitchen can fulfil it. Do not turn a customer’s requested time into a confirmed promise until your restaurant has agreed it.

Ask where the collection time will be visible

Have the demonstrator show the exact supported way to retain the agreed collection time and order reference. If your chosen setup needs a separate preparation sheet alongside the POS, demonstrate that handoff too. Ask the cook to identify when the order is needed and the cashier to find the same reference. This is an acceptance question: the guide does not promise scheduled ticket release, automatic reminders, online preordering or a dedicated advance-order module.

Keep the next walk-in order separate

At the counter, enter a second practice order, reference B, for immediate service. Give it different dishes and quantities. Ask the cashier to show which record belongs to the advance collection and which belongs to the person currently waiting. Then ask the kitchen representative to explain what they will prepare next under your agreed procedure. Order-entry sequence alone should not be used as a substitute for the preparation decision made by your team.

Agree one change and trace every affected record

Before preparation begins, change A from four meal parcels to five and move the agreed collection time to 13:30. Have the kitchen confirm that change. Check the supported POS update, any kitchen correction and the separate preparation sheet if one is being used. The expected final quantity is five, not nine: an earlier instruction and its replacement must not be treated as two independent orders. Make it clear which collection time is now current.

Separate payment evidence from collection evidence

Use a written sample payment status agreed with the demonstrator; no real transaction is necessary. Ask where staff confirm whether payment is complete and what they check before releasing the five parcels. A bill print, a promised collection time and actual payment are not interchangeable. If your business needs deposits, balance tracking, refunds or a third-party payment connection, request a specific demonstration before assuming that requirement is included.

Finish with the person who will hand over the food

Have a different staff member find A using its reference, repeat the current quantity and collection time, and explain the agreed payment check. Keep B separate. Record any information that was visible only to the original operator and decide how the next shift will receive it.
