Change takeaway to dine-in without creating a second food order

Begin with one unprepared takeaway order

Use a supervised training order with two idli plates at a fictional Rs.40 each and one coffee at Rs.25. Record the actual order reference. The food subtotal is Rs.105 before any configured adjustment. Have the kitchen representative confirm that preparation has not begun, then introduce the customer’s request to eat at a table. This timing makes the first rehearsal easier to follow; do not assume it covers food already packed or served.

Ask for the supported change process

Have the demonstrator show how this setup handles the move from counter collection to a table. It might require a supported service-mode change or an agreed cancel-and-re-enter procedure. Follow the demonstrated method and trace the original reference through it. This page does not promise a one-click transfer or automatic table assignment. If a replacement order is necessary, make the superseded record unmistakable and confirm what the kitchen should do with its earlier instruction.

Tell the kitchen where the food now goes

Assign an actual training table and ask the cook to identify the final destination without coaching. Check both the visible order and the paper or display used at preparation. There should still be two idli plates and one coffee to prepare, not four plates and two coffees because an order was entered twice. Agree who acknowledges the destination change and who brings the food to the table instead of leaving it at the parcel collection point.

Review packaging independently from food quantities

If your normal takeaway setup includes a packaging line, inspect what happens to it after the change. In a fictional exercise with Rs.10 packaging, the amount before tax or other adjustments would move from Rs.115 to Rs.105 only if that charge is removed through your agreed policy and supported process. Do not silently edit a charge after payment. If the customer has already paid, stop and demonstrate the permitted correction and payment reconciliation separately with the responsible cashier.

Add a table round and reconcile the final bill

Once the serving change is clear, add one more coffee from the table using the intended captain or counter workflow. The expected food quantities are now two idli plates and two coffees, with a fictional item subtotal of Rs.130. Ask the kitchen to identify only the additional coffee, then ask another cashier to find the final order. Check the serving destination, packaging treatment and any payment record independently.
