Two customers with the same name at one collection counter
Saidapet Metro is a useful meeting landmark, but its entrances serve different approaches. Chennai Metro Rail lists the bus stand near A2/A3 and Bazaar Road and Jones Road among the approaches to B3. For an onsite restaurant demo, share your actual street, entrance and meeting point rather than only saying “near Saidapet Metro”. Our illustration is an original symbolic station-entrance scene, not a navigation map. Visits are arranged with the Chennai team; there is no DeccanPro branch claimed at the station.
Local reference: Chennai Metro Rail: Saidapet entrances and station information. Use the restaurant exercises below with your own menu.
Prepare two orders with one shared name
Use “Ravi” as a fictional name for both parties during a supervised training exercise. Order A is two meals at Rs.120 each: sample item subtotal Rs.240. Order B is one meal at Rs.120 and two coffees at Rs.25 each: sample item subtotal Rs.170. Keep each saved order reference. If the setup has an appropriate customer-name field, demonstrate its use; otherwise use labelled paper roles. The test is about locating the correct order, not a promise of a particular customer-profile feature.
Find the order from a reference, then read it back
Have a colleague approach the counter and say only “Ravi”. The cashier should establish which order is being collected using the agreed saved reference, then read back the current items. A shared name, queue position or familiar face should not replace that check. Match A to two meals and B to one meal with two coffees. Use sample slips instead of real customer receipts, and avoid announcing a full phone number to the queue.
Change only the intended order
Before preparation, party B asks for one more coffee. Locate B by its reference and use the supported update procedure. Its sample item subtotal becomes Rs.195; A stays Rs.240. Have the kitchen identify the single extra coffee and the order it belongs to. An identical customer name must not cause the cashier to open A or the cook to prepare another complete order. Confirm the actual ticket or screen rather than relying on a spoken name alone.
Rehearse someone else collecting the parcel
Ask a second colleague to collect B on the fictional customer’s behalf. Follow the restaurant’s agreed collection-verification policy and use B’s saved reference and current contents. Confirm preparation, payment and collection separately. If the reference cannot be established, pause the handoff and resolve it through the designated staff member. This procedure does not assert that the software authenticates a collector or automatically prevents an incorrect handover.
Record what made the correct record easy to find
Before finishing the demo, ask a different cashier to retrieve both examples: A with two meals at Rs.240, B with one meal and three coffees at Rs.195. Note which screen, ticket or agreed manual record carried the reference through the process. Keep any ambiguous result for the demonstrator to resolve. Bring your own counter layout, anonymised sample receipt and existing pickup routine to the Saidapet visit so the exercise reflects how your restaurant actually serves customers.
