One office lunch order, collected in stages

Prepare a ten-parcel practice order

Outside customer service, use ten paper meal cards and a fictional menu price of Rs.150 per meal. Enter one order for ten identical parcels, giving an item subtotal of Rs.1,500 before configured tax, discount or other adjustments. Record the order reference. Name one practice coordinator who can confirm who is collecting; use invented names and no customer personal data in this rehearsal. Ask the cook to read back ten meals, then ask the packing team to count ten complete parcel cards.

Record the first six without closing the collection

Have collector A request six parcels against the agreed reference. Check the restaurant’s normal collection authorisation, hand over six cards and record six collected with four still waiting. A bill marked paid is not evidence that all ten parcels have left the counter. Demonstrate where staff will keep this collection note: use a supported order note or an agreed paper handover log if the software does not provide the required collection control. This exercise does not promise an automatic partial-dispatch module.

Let a different cashier handle the second collection

Change the person at the counter before collector B arrives. The incoming cashier should find the original reference and identify four parcels remaining without reconstructing events from memory. Hand over three more cards, recording nine collected in total and one remaining. Keep the last parcel clearly associated with the same reference. Do not enter another three meals or issue a fresh preparation instruction merely because the second collector has arrived.

Reconcile quantity, collection and payment separately

At the end of the rehearsal, ten ordered minus nine handed over leaves one parcel still to collect. The original item subtotal remains Rs.1,500 because collecting in stages did not change what was purchased. Check payment against the actual bill through the agreed process; do not infer it from the number of bags handed over. If the coordinator requests a cancellation or replacement for the remaining meal, stop and demonstrate the supported correction and kitchen communication before changing either quantity or charge.

Bring a realistic collection routine to the Mount Road demo

Repeat the exercise with your own parcel contents and collection policy. If a meal uses several containers, count complete meals separately from containers so a bag count cannot be mistaken for an order quantity. Include the staff member who packs food and the person who takes over the counter. Finish only when they can independently state the order reference, original quantity, quantity collected, quantity remaining and where payment was checked.
