RESTAURANT GUIDE · CHENNAI

A missing kitchen ticket needs a check before a retry.

When a cook reports that a ticket has not arrived, sending the same order again may create duplicate preparation. Use an agreed restaurant procedure to establish where the order reached before deciding what to repeat. This guide is a staff triage checklist, not a device repair manual.

First establish what the kitchen already received

Ask the kitchen to check its ticket collection point and the open order view used in your installation. Confirm the table or order reference, dishes and quantities with the captain. A misplaced printout and an order that never reached the system require different next steps.

Check the current table or order at the billing counter. Record whether the missing information is the whole order, an extra round or a correction. Tell the kitchen who is coordinating the check so another staff member does not independently submit the same dishes.

Check the printer without changing the setup blindly

Look at power, paper and visible status indicators according to the printer’s manual. Confirm that the device being checked is the intended kitchen printer. Ask whether it was moved, disconnected or changed recently. Do not open electrical components or reset network settings during service as a speculative fix.

If a trained person uses the printer’s supported test function, record the result. A successful device test and a successful restaurant KOT test are different observations. Share both with support, together with the exact make, model and connection type.

Retry once the preparation instruction is clear

Use only the supported inspect or reprint procedure demonstrated for your installation. Before doing so, tell the kitchen what the new copy represents and confirm whether any dishes have already started. Afterwards, compare the current order and the resulting ticket so an extra copy is not treated as extra food.

Keep a brief record of the time, affected station and action that restored printing. For a Chennai restaurant running lunch service and takeaway together, this record helps the next shift recognise a repeated connection or paper-handling issue. Ask DeccanPro to demonstrate this recovery sequence on your own printer during the setup review.
