YOUR RESTAURANT · YOUR PART OF CHENNAI

Restaurant billing software in Madhavaram.

“Table 4” is not enough when your restaurant has a Table 4 downstairs and another upstairs. For a Madhavaram restaurant with separate dining sections, use this practical rehearsal to check that the captain, kitchen and cashier all identify the same table. Try it with your actual layout before moving live orders onto a new POS.

Keep table numbers distinct across restaurant floors

Tamil Nadu’s 2024–25 Agriculture Policy Note lists Horticulture Park Madhavaram among Chennai’s parks. Its entrance inspires this page’s illustration. The park is a locality reference, not a customer or a suggested meeting point. For a visit to your restaurant, send the street address, entrance and floor details rather than only “near the botanical garden”. Describe your actual dining sections; this guide does not assume that every Madhavaram restaurant has multiple floors.

Local reference: Tamil Nadu Agriculture Policy Note 2024–25: parks list, page 141. Use the restaurant exercises below with your own menu.

Give each physical table one unmistakable name

Sketch the dining sections and mark the table labels guests and staff can actually see. In this fictional exercise, call the ground-floor table G04 and the upstairs table U04. These are suggested names, not a claim about automatic floor mapping. Ask the demonstrator to configure supported labels and confirm how they appear on the captain screen, saved order and kitchen ticket. A floor selector that disappears from a printed KOT can leave both orders looking like “4”. Read the final output rather than judging the setup screen alone.

Start two equal-value orders on purpose

Use a training session with two idli plates at Rs.60 each on G04 and one dosa at Rs.120 on U04. Both item subtotals are Rs.120 before configured taxes or other adjustments. Equal totals make this a useful identity test: the cashier cannot detect a swapped table merely by comparing the amount. Ask a second staff member to match each saved order to its physical table and kitchen instruction without the original captain pointing to the answer. G04 needs two idli plates; U04 needs one dosa.

Add a second round to only one floor

Add one coffee at Rs.30 to U04 using the demonstrated method for continuing that order. U04 should now contain the dosa and coffee with a Rs.150 item subtotal; G04 should still contain only the two idli plates at Rs.120. Check the new kitchen instruction as well as the final bill. The combined Rs.270 total is insufficient proof: a misplaced coffee could produce the same combined amount. Confirm table, item, quantity and order reference together. Do not assume that selecting an occupied table automatically appends to its earlier order; ask the operator to show the exact supported action.

Make the kitchen call specific enough to act on

Have a colleague read the printed table label from the normal kitchen position. If staff use voice announcements, listen during a rehearsal with ordinary background noise and verify whether the section is actually spoken. Agree an explicit read-back such as “upstairs U04, one coffee”. This is a suggested staff procedure, not a promise that announcements include every field. If the output omits the section or a label is truncated, resolve the naming or handover procedure before relying on it in service. Never silently reinterpret an ambiguous ticket.

Close one table and inspect the other

Use the agreed training-payment procedure to finish G04. Then have the incoming cashier locate U04 and confirm that its dosa, coffee and Rs.150 subtotal remain associated with the correct open order. Closing the downstairs table must not be treated as evidence that the upstairs order is finished. Record any mismatch, the visible label and the exact action that preceded it, then repeat with fresh training orders after correction. For a local demo, bring your floor sketch, current table labels and printer model. DeccanPro visits by appointment; share a quieter service window and whether the kitchen and cashier are on different floors.

Prepare your Madhavaram demo

  • Each physical table has a distinct readable label.
  • Section identity survives from captain to kitchen output.
  • Equal Rs.120 orders match different dishes and tables.
  • Only U04 receives the Rs.30 coffee: U04 Rs.150, G04 Rs.120.
  • Staff verify individual orders rather than only the Rs.270 combined total.
  • Kitchen read-back identifies the correct section.
  • Closing G04 leaves U04 correctly identifiable.
  • Any unsupported output or workflow is recorded before rollout.
