RESTAURANT GUIDE · CHENNAI

Make kitchen announcements useful at working volume.

A spoken order can draw attention while the cook is looking elsewhere. It works best as part of a clear paper or screen workflow, with the voice and volume tested using your actual menu and kitchen conditions.

Choose the device that should speak

DeccanPro's kitchen sound and speech settings are specific to the machine. Enable them on the intended kitchen device and check its speakers. Confirm that the sound is heard where preparation happens without creating unnecessary noise at the counter.

Test with normal kitchen equipment running, at a time when the exercise will not interfere with customer orders. Check the arrival sound first and then the spoken details. Ask the team whether the alert is noticeable and the speech understandable at a comfortable volume.

Try the names you actually sell

Use a short order, a long dish name and a larger order containing several items. Current announcement phrasing is English, and voice options depend on the voices installed on the device. Tamil announcements are not promised by the reviewed implementation.

The spoken order includes information such as the table, item quantities and dish details. Longer orders keep the spoken list concise. The complete KOT or display therefore remains important even if the beginning of the announcement is easy to hear.

Test a change, not only a new order

Add an item and demonstrate a cancellation using sample data. Ask the cook what the announcement means and have them confirm it against the full ticket or screen. New-order speech sounding correct does not by itself verify the change and cancellation cases.

Record the selected voice, device and volume as part of the restaurant's setup notes. After replacing speakers or changing the kitchen computer, repeat the test. Voice should help people notice an order, while the written record supplies the full detail needed to prepare it.
