Two staff members, one current table order

Start with the same saved order on two devices

Set up a fictional table A7 containing two dosas at Rs.80 each and one coffee at Rs.25: an item subtotal of Rs.185 before adjustments. Have the captain and cashier locate the same saved order reference on the devices they will actually use. Do not create a second order merely to make it appear on the second screen. Mark the exercise as training so it does not trigger real food preparation.

Let the captain finish the first change

The guest asks the captain for one more coffee. Agree that the captain completes this change first, then retrieves the saved order to verify two dosas and two coffees, subtotal Rs.210. Ask the kitchen to identify the additional coffee. The cashier should now retrieve the current order using the demonstrated procedure before editing it. An older screen showing one coffee is not enough evidence that the extra drink was never saved.

Pass the next change to the cashier

The guest then asks the cashier for one vada at a sample price of Rs.30. After confirming the earlier addition, the cashier adds it through the supported workflow. The intended result is two dosas, two coffees and one vada: Rs.240 before configured adjustments. Return to the captain’s device and check the saved record there as well. The kitchen should understand the extra coffee and vada without preparing the original two dosas again.

Investigate an older screen before another save

If a device still shows the initial Rs.185 order, stop the exercise and inspect the saved reference through the demonstrated refresh or reopen procedure. Ask the supplier to explain what happens if two people attempt updates at once. Test that separately on training data and record the observed result. This guide does not promise automatic edit locking, conflict merging or offline synchronisation. A staff rule to take turns is a rehearsal procedure, not proof of a software concurrency guarantee.

Give the incoming person a complete handoff

Ask a third staff member to take over using the same reference. They should name all five ordered portions, identify which additions were communicated to the kitchen, and inspect the payment state separately. Compare the current line quantities before relying on the Rs.240 subtotal. Record any missing or repeated item with the device, operation and order reference so the team can reproduce the issue instead of guessing which person made it.
